December 2002

We enjoyed the most unique
Christmas ever. We call it our "Costa Rica
Christmas." Just 4 hours away
on the coast of the Pacific ocean is a fantastic beach called La
Playa Flamingo. It's not every year
that you get to go boogie boarding on Christmas Eve. The kids had
a blast!
November 2002

With a bit of
creativity and adapting, we were able to fix up turkey and trimmings
and enjoy our first overseas "Thanksgiving Day" with several
of our language school
families. We had a great day! Gracias a Dios!
September 2002

After our first four weeks in
language school in San Jose, Costa Rica we took a break to the
pacific ocean and enjoyed a relaxing day of swimming and boogie boards
at Punta Leona.
June 2002

We revisited a simple lesson that
all Missionaries learn. It all has to do with what you add
to the letters "a d v e". You can either add "r s i
t y" or you can add "n t u r e". So you get
"adversity" or "adventure" depending how you look at it. We were in
route to a church that
required a ferry ride across Puget Sound. We pulled into the
loading area at 6:30pm to find it packed
and backed up several blocks. We we're then informed that one of
the two ferries was "down" and the
next boat was already going to be full. That meant we wouldn't
board until 8:40pm. Our delay
turned into a beach adventure that was a delight for the family that
included
seashells, sunset, and sandcastles.
April / May 2002

A series of special missions
services took us to Arizona, Texas, and California on
a monumental 30 day road trip. We enjoyed visiting family and friends along
the way,
and were overwhelmed by the hospitality and generosity of the pastors and
churches we met. One pastor purchased brand new shoes for our whole family,
and another
gave us his own DELL laptop computer.
Several churches committed to
supporting us. It was
a great time for our family. And the sunshine didn't
hurt us either.

January 2002
The family enjoyed a rare and
invigorating "snow day" in Everett, WA.
It always makes for fun and mushy memories.
